I’m so proud that Sirga looks after herself out there - but she still appreciates a little treat, in the summer heat especially a simple drink of water. This is my POV when going out to check on her at a kill she made. Her nose is still covered in blood and she is exhausted from the hunt. If she would leave her kill to go drink, scavengers like vultures and hyenas might steal her food. If she was in a pride some lions could go drink while others guard the kill. I guess I’m her pride but I’m not well designed to chase off hyenas and that’s why instead of guarding for her I simply bring some water with me.

For those wondering - why not a bowl? she destroys bowls and spills the water each time we try. Feeding her from my hand simply has become what works best over the years 😊
