Just finished this! One of the best memoirs I have ever read. Your writing is so immersive and impactful. The events in Syria had shaped a lot of discussions in my college international relations courses of the early to mid 2010s. Reading this memoir has allowed me to take a distant conflict that had been reduced to arbitrary statistics into something deeply personal. You did an incredible job at capturing the various perspectives and how they evolve as the conflict intensified. I also sincerely appreciate your honesty in documenting your own experiences. You didn’t hold anything back and reading this was like having a long heart to heart with a friend. Thank you !
