1. Seek God’s strength for forgiveness
Ephesians 4:32 calls believers to forgive “as God in Christ forgave you,” releasing bitterness through prayer and surrender, even amid pain. Name your hurt to the Lord first, as David did in Psalms, allowing divine healing before confronting the wound together.

2. Insist on full repentance and transparency
True change starts with admitting fault without blame-shifting, like the prodigal son returning humbled (Luke 15), followed by verifiable actions—open communication, ending secrecy, and a plan to avoid sin (2 Timothy 2:22). This honors Proverbs 28:13: “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”

3. Set biblical boundaries with grace
Define clear expectations rooted in wisdom, such as mutual accountability, while extending patience as love “bears all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7). Jesus reinstated Peter after denial by affirming love three times (John 21:15-19), showing restoration requires time without undue pressure.

4. Reconnect through shared faith
Build new memories via prayer, Scripture study, or serving together, echoing Hosea’s patient love for Gomer as a picture of God’s covenant faithfulness. Celebrate small trustworthy steps, as Luke 16:10 teaches fidelity in little things proves readiness for much.

5. Pursue counsel and trust God’s timing
Proverbs 11:14 warns against going alone—seek godly mentors or counselors for structured repentance and healing, leaning on James 5:16 for mutual confession. Progress may ebb, but God’s power restores (Psalm 46:1), making your union stronger in Him.
