Why is your teen so ravenously hungry after school or at night before bed?
I get this question all the time, and there’s often a good reason!👇
Typically, ravenous hunger is a BIG RED FLAG 🚩 that your athlete is under fuelling earlier in the day.
Fuelling as a teen athlete means getting in AT LEAST 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day. That’s the baseline, even on rest days!
When you’re training hard, growing fast, or have back-to-back sessions, your body will need even more fuel to keep up.
Everyone’s normal will be different, but you will need to eat regularly and adjust your intake to your training loads and your growth and development.
✅ When you train more, that’s more often, harder or for longer, you will need to eat more.
✅ You will also need to eat more if you are growing and developing.
Now….what’s next? Two options:
1️⃣ I talk more in depth about fuelling in my FREE ‘Are You Eating Enough?’ training session for teenage athletes and sports parents. Comment ‘MASTERCLASS’ and I’ll DM you the link.
2️⃣ If you need a hand with making confident fuelling choices for your athlete, comment ‘READY’ and I’ll DM you the link to Fuel School, my performance nutrition hub for teenage athletes and sports parents! 🙋♂️🙋♀️
I’m here to help empower your teenage athlete to respect their body and fuel with confidence so that they can reach their potential in sports, school and life.
