From loons in Maine to saw-whet owls in Connecticut, we’ve seen and learned about a lot of cool birds in New England this year. While the @ournewengland team has loved them all, we decided to wrap up 2025 with some of our favorites.

Did you have a fun, special or unbelievable bird moment this year? Share it with us in the comments for a chance to win an @ournewengland bandana! Let us know what bird you saw and where you saw it.

I spotted a red tailed hawk eating dinner in my local park. It’s always amazing seeing a bird of prey up close ✨✨ also was lucky enough to see so many beautiful birds in @congress.of.the.birds’ care like a puffin and some ravens!

During yoga in Elizabeth park in Hartford, a bald eagle flew overhead. Which was pretty intense mid-pose. The week after I saw a bald eagle on a nearby street. In a tree maybe fifteen feet off the ground. I’ve visited zoos and not been so close. They are amazing birds and never stop feeling a sense of awe around them.
