Rosellas, magpies, and cockatoos are always in Mum & Dad’s backyard in the country - but never kookaburras. It wasn’t til the week before my Dad went into the hospital that one came to visit. Every day.

About 6pm, it would fly in and sit on the fence.

Mum would wave at it, calling out, “Hello Kookie”, - while Dad laughed at her. She was so excited. She rang me to tell me she had a new little friend.

Then, Dad went into the hospital and didn’t come out, and the kookaburra hasn’t returned.

Has anyone else experienced a bird (kookaburra?) visiting before a loved one’s passing? (I believe there is Irish folklore and superstitions around birds and death.)

Sorry about my dodgy video. 🙄 I hadn’t planned to share it.

Maybe it was Dad🤔 After Dad passed away we had numerous kookaburras in the most unusual places. We were convinced it was his sign to us that he was around and ok!🤷‍♀️

I have heard so many stories regarding birds and someone dying Meaghan. Both here and in Ireland.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. There are many amazing stories out there about animals during these circumstances.
