This is a photo of a Polish soldier of the Polish Army in France, taken on January 1, 1940. He stands at attention wearing a French Army greatcoat and leather ammunition pouches, with the Polish eagle on his beret. Behind him, fellow soldiers line up with bayonets fixed, far from their occupied homeland. Just months earlier, in September 1939, Poland had been invaded by Germany and the Soviet Union and fell within weeks. Rather than surrender, tens of thousands of Polish soldiers escaped through neighboring countries and regrouped in France under General Władysław Sikorski. Joined by Polish emigrants living in France, the army grew to around 80,000 troops by the spring of 1940. Polish units fought in the Battle of France and at Narvik in Norway. When France fell in June 1940, many of them were evacuated to Britain, where they continued fighting for the rest of the war.
Is this quick and clean?
Pamtimo. Ne odustajemo. Nikada više!
Qua Contemporary Chinese Cuisine | Fountain Valley 📍 Checked out another restaurant from @kei.concepts The moment I looked at the @quadining menu I already knew I had to come back again to try more stuff. These are what I got on my first visit. - Chili Crunch Burrata: roasted chili jam, hot honey chili crunch, crispy onion, pickled shallot, with Chinese donuts to dip with. So good - BBQ Pork Puff Pastry. I could have eaten two orders myself. I would go back just for this - Dan Dan Sesame Noodle: ground pork, house chili crunch, cucumber, scallion - Crispy Shrimp Red Rice Roll - Pineapple Butter Cake: fresh pineapple, butter toffee, shortcake crumble, vanilla ice cream
📸 Getty
