“Start with the Church and the mission will probably get lost. Start with mission and it is likely that the Church will be found.“ - Graham Cray
Sent. Sent, is the default mode of Jesus’s church. To proclaim in word and deed, the love, hope and good news of Jesus. As the Father sends the Son, the Father & Son send the Spirit, so the Father, Son, and Spirit send the Church. When we lose hold of our identity as a sent people, called to join God in his mission, we become just another club. An entity unto ourselves. A delivery mechanism for consumable spirituality.
Embracing our sentness, our call to make disciples of Jesus, positions us in real relationship with people. Investing, sharing, ‘one anothering’. Christology > missiology > ecclesiology. If you start with ‘church’, you may or may not get mission. If you start with Jesus and his mission, you will always get the Church. #jesus #mission #disciplemaking #greatcommission #church @renovate_collective
