8 months agoIt’s not always a gift you know - it’s learned behaviour. I can read the dots and play by ear but when I play by ear I am listening out for chord and melodic patterns which I learned to do. A lot of gospel players can do this through necessity as some have never relied on sheet music. The sheet music readers find this hard, but you put the dots in front of them and they read the music like how we read a book. When I listen to a song, I listen to all layers of it but not everyone does. And you can learn to do that. I know sax players like myself and other musicians that can hear a tune and play it, probably because they are used to going to jam sessions.
9 months agoI play by ear, and I think it's the best feeling to intuitively just put it all together..💯💗
9 months agoDepends on the instrument you play I feel like. Playing drums by ear to me seems easier than some other instruments. Unless it’s just me..
