A Class 10 student has died after a man allegedly attacked her with a chainsaw inside her classroom at Raptadu Zilla Parishad High School in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district on Saturday, October 31. The victim, identified as Gopika Lakshmi, was reportedly attacked by Hemanth alias Dummu, a 21-year-old man and her distant relative. According to preliminary reports, the accused had allegedly been harassing her and attacked her after she rejected his advances and threatened to inform her parents. The brutal assault left Gopika with severe injuries to her face, head, neck and back, while her right hand was nearly severed. Her friend, Lakshmi, also sustained leg injuries while attempting to intervene and stop the attack.
