4 hot springs, a geyser, and some not so tasty natural springs later @maplegrovehotsprings gets the family’s vote for #1. It’s hard to believe we were kayaking wearing swimsuits in January.

This is just evil A subtle texting trick involves replacing the lowercase letter “l” in “love” with a capital “I,” creating “Iove.” The two characters look nearly identical in many fonts, making the difference easy to miss. Although the message appears to say “love,” the word is technically spelled incorrectly. The joke is that someone might deliberately use this spelling because they don’t actually love the person they’re texting. By never technically writing the word “love,” they can convince themselves they haven’t genuinely expressed those feelings, despite the recipient having no reason to notice the difference.
It feels like a lifetime ago, but it was only 3 years ago when it seemed like everything was falling apart. In the same year, I went through a divorce, packed my life in Dubai into boxes and traded my home for a storage unit. I unexpectedly had to shut down the company I co-founded and spent several years building, and nearly went bankrupt taking legal action against the business partner who caused it. That same year, I struggled through 4 rounds of egg freezing in a foreign country, and had also entered a relationship that was slowly breaking me down (which I eventually began to understand was abusive). I was severely burned out, my nervous system was in shambles, I had hit financial rock bottom, I was living out of a suitcase with an abusive partner and no support system, and I had no idea where I was going next with a career I had poured my whole self into. But what I didn’t know at the time was that life was paving a new road for me. Everything had to burn down before I could see that it was making room for something better. What came with the re-build was far more meant for me. Far more purposeful. Far more aligned. And gave me freedom and fulfillment I could only have dreamed of in that past life.
