10 months agoIt was a serious wake up call when I started getting objectified before I medically transitioned. I feel as though I went into my transition defensive, and that’s kept me alive.
10 months agofirst off - love ya, bitch 💖 secondly, there could never be a positive or reaffirmative form of masculinity because violence, domination and oppression is hardcoded and constructed into every single facet of masculinity. that's something i could never take away from the radfems, they nailed it.
10 months agoAlso, the amount of times men would come up to lesbian friends of mine when they would go out on dates (with other women of course) and tell them they are so “pretty together” (פשש איזה יפות אתן) is insane. And no, this is not a compliment; this is harassment. They wouldn’t have come up to a heterosexual cisgender couple to tell them they look good together, and as for homosexuals? Well, homophobia. Though, fetishising lesbians is inherently homophobic in my opinion.
10 months agoYes. Just yes. Not a single day went by where I wasn’t harassed by men in one way or another growing up in occupied Palestine (starting before the age of 10). It has gotten way better since I moved to Amsterdam 4 years ago; and of course this happens here too, but not nearly as much. The feeling you get when you walk past a group of men, knowing very well what they would do to you if they encountered you in a dark alley, is just blehhhhh
