Writing this hurts and makes it even more real, but staying silent feels harder.
It took me some time to find the strength to write this.
As we were planning my parents’ next visit, my dad suddenly passed away. I traveled to Moldova to say my last goodbyes and to be there for my mom. It was an incredibly devastating time.
Despite the pain, I am deeply grateful for the years I was able to spend with my dad. We made so many memories, and I truly am my father’s daughter. He was a constant example to me throughout my life — always supportive, encouraging, and present.
He wasn’t just a wonderful father. He was a loving husband, a supportive in-law, a caring and fun grandpa, and a loyal friend. I am proud to be his daughter, and I will carry his lessons with me always: never losing your inner child, doing your work with integrity, thinking important decisions through, supporting your child, showing up for your spouse, never forgetting your friends, being active and enjoying small things that life has to offer.
Thank you, Dad. I will miss you forever, and I will continue living the values you taught me.
Nothing I say will ever be enough… but I can’t stay quiet either. I will keep going.
I’m grateful for my friends, family, co-workers who supported us during this time of grief.
