As a mother of an autistic child who has eloped, this hits me in the chest. This boy was reported missing by his own mom and instead of being safely reunited, he was handed to federal authorities and held for almost 50 days despite his autism and vulnerability. This isn’t a misunderstanding or red tape. This is a system that failed a child and a mother at the most basic human level. We have to be able to say.. this is wrong!
