Breads That Won’t Bloat (for most people)

Not all bread causes bloating. How it’s made matters more than gluten alone.

Long fermented sourdough
True sourdough made with long fermentation helps break down fructans, which are a more common cause of bloating than gluten in people without celiac disease.

Sprouted grain breads
Certain sprouted grain breads, often found in the freezer aisle, may be better tolerated because sprouting reduces fermentable carbohydrates. Look for short, simple ingredient lists.

One English muffin
According to Monash University, one plain English muffin is considered low FODMAP for most people. Portion size matters.

Freezing and reheating bread
Freezing and reheating bread increases resistant starch, which is digested more slowly and may reduce gas and bloating for some people.

Why this helps
Fructans, not gluten, are more commonly responsible for bread related bloating in people without celiac disease.

Important note
If you have celiac disease, none of these are gluten free. You must strictly avoid gluten and should work with a registered dietitian.

This is not medical advice.

I buy sourdough bread for many months now and freeze them for consumption the next day or if I purchase a lot for a day, then toast them in a conventional air fryer and they became sorfter and crunchy. Very great for sunny side up and some tea or black coffee. ❤️ When I started eating sourdough bread, I felt more normal in my tummy..

Hlo Dr. So I lost 135 lbs so far, need to now lose my last/final 20-30lbs to finally reach my weight goal. Def is getting harder. This is where I ask u, what more can I do other than what I’ve been doing, eating healthy, intermittent fasting, exercise at the gym, walk to my gym (20 min each way). My workouts still/only include cardio. I still haven’t started doing weights just yet. I do not want to tone anything just yet until I lose my final 20-30 lbs. HELP!!!

I have celiac disease, My dietician was like just don’t eat gluten . I had to do my own research to find all the hidden gluten in food. All the different types of gluten all the different names for gluten . How to avoid cross contamination because it takes a literal crumb to make me sick . It’s been almost 6 years I’m still learning

I can't do sourdough. It makes my gut hurt. But I have had colon cancer previously. Many foods aggravate my gut
