3 months agoGreat video!! A rule all should be aware of regarding the misnaming of a discard: using your example—where the 3 bam discarded is incorrectly named a 3 dot—if a player calls for the misnamed 3 dot discard as a mahjong, the game is over. (Page 16 Mah Jongg Made Easy).
9 months agoYou didn’t say what the penalty is for discarding a tile that is wrongly identified and someone calls the mis identified tile but can’t take it because it is not the correct tile they needed.
9 months agoWow! Excellent presentation! You’re very articulate, concise and get right to the point. All very pertinent information even for seasoned players. I like using the tail after we push out the wall and thankfully my group likes it too. We have been playing awhile and it’s just habit now.
9 months agoI always rack my tile and immediately discard if I don’t need it. One woman that filled in for our group last week she picked her tiles and sorta swung it around, held it, never racked it unless she needed it and it was annoying. I was taught to always rack and then discard it even if it’s that very tile .
9 months agoWhy is pulling a tile from the wall and immediately discarding it bad? If I know, I don’t need it as I pull it from the wall, doesn’t it make more sense to throw it immediately as opposed to taking the time to bring it to my rack, then discarding it? I would think that would leave the window to call the previous tile open longer.
9 months agoThis is great content! Thank you for posting. Not gonna lie when you said the thing about the blind pass, I said out loud “yes, obviously,” and on cue, you said, “that may seem obvious…” 😂
