Europe’s “free” healthcare and expansive welfare states are not the product of moral superiority.
They are the byproduct of 𝐔.𝐒. 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲.
The 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 covers approximately 𝟔𝟓–𝟕𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐎 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 within a roughly $𝟏.𝟒𝟕 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 alliance budget. For over 𝟖𝟎+ 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐚𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 have provided the military umbrella that allowed many European nations to underspend on defense while redirecting 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 into social programs.
Post-WWII reconstruction, long-standing trade advantages, counter-terrorism operations, and migration stabilization further cemented the imbalance.
This isn’t isolationism.
It’s 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐡.
