9 months agoI did the same. It was grueling to try to end gracefully. The tool on the owner/operators is brutal. I’m here to help/listen to anyone who needs it.
9 months agoEven when you close a bar gracefully, everyone only thinks to say “I’m sorry”. It took a fellow bar owner telling me “congratulations” to help change the narrative. Congratulations to you @martinigroove ❤️
9 months agoThank you for this. I love the quote where it says we know how to celebrate opening night….so true! We need more open conversations like this!
9 months agoThank you for posting .. i wish beer and cider industry trade shows had talks about closing a beverage business but they dont want to admit that businesses close and that its not always due to failure.
9 months agoSo true! My closest friends were employees of our closed business. We’ve grown to motivate each other and get through life. It’s my eternal gift from “my failure”.
9 months agoLove seeing this & hate seeing this. But Tara’s fucking A right: we gotta dialogue something that affects every corner of the bar biz in a huge way. Let’s continue to remove the stank from it. In a business that favors self-promoters we could all do with a little more honesty and a lot less ego. It’s okay for the world to know that it may take quantum computing to see the margins of this era. There’s no shame in banging out of an ultramarathon that threatens to bankrupt you. Tech guys love talking about their failures! In most arenas, an idea that didn’t work out doesn’t destroy the thinker. We should be allowed to fail, too. Your first rodeo not panning out shouldn’t doom your career.
