A Ghost at our Cottage… 👻

Well, it is Halloween after all… so I thought it might be the perfect opportunity to share a few of our rather curious experiences with the unexplained.

We live in a farmhouse dating back to 1719 and I’ve always felt a presence here, nothing sinister, thankfully.

The old curator at the Castle confirmed that ours isn’t the only farm steading on the Raby estate where the television has been known to switch itself on at 3am, at full volume, for absolutely no apparent reason!

I’ve had two rather curious experiences while working as a room guide at the castle, both in my favourite room. On the first occasion, I felt a very firm tug on the back of my blazer. I actually gasped, thinking I’d caught it on an ornament or the door handle, but I was nowhere near either. It felt rather mischievous and playful and, strangely enough, I wasn’t frightened at all.

On another occasion, in that very same room, I caught sight of what looked like a ghostly reflection in a bookcase.

But perhaps my strangest experience happened many years ago, shortly after my mum passed away. While visiting a customer, I saw a gentleman standing beside her table, quite clearly, folding newspapers. I described exactly what I’d seen to the lady, who immediately recognised him as her late husband. She told me that he used to fold his newspapers in precisely that spot. I’d never met him.

Now, I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I’ve certainly experienced a few things over the years that I simply can’t explain.

Our little ghostly visitor today was just for a bit of Halloween fun, but Daisy certainly took to her role beautifully, and I think you’ll agree she rather stole the show 👻

دونالد ترامپ، رییس‌جمهوری آمریکا، دوشنبه ۱۱ آبان در واشینگتن دی‌سی گفت جمهوری اسلامی خواهان توافق برای پایان دادن به جنگ هشت‌ماهه با آمریکاست و دستیابی به چنین توافقی «ممکن است اتفاق بیفتد». او مدعی شد آمریکا در این جنگ «به‌آسانی» در حال پیروزی است.

این اظهارات در حالی مطرح شد که حکومت ایران از ادامه تماس‌ها با آمریکا برای پایان دادن به جنگ خبر داده است. گفت‌وگوهای چندروزه تهران با میانجی‌های قطری، با وجود ارائه پیشنهادهای اصلاح‌شده، بدون پیشرفت پایان یافت.

هم‌زمان، در آستانه انتخابات میان‌دوره‌ای آمریکا در روز سه‌شنبه ۱۲ آبان، نگرانی‌ها درباره ازسرگیری درگیری‌ها افزایش یافته است.

فرماندهی انتظامی غرب استان تهران روز چهارشنبه ۱۳ آبان با انتشار گزارشی ویدیویی، از بازداشت مردی خبر داد که در پوشش مسافرکش، با تهدید چاقو و ضرب‌وشتم از زنان مسافر در اسلامشهر زورگیری می‌کرد.
در این ویدیو، شاکیان روایت می‌کنند که این مرد با تهدید چاقو و ضرب‌وشتم، پول، طلا، کیف و وسایل شخصی آن‌ها را سرقت کرده است. یکی از زنان خطاب به او می‌گوید: «اون چکی که زدی زیر گوش من یادته؟ هنوز که هنوزه گوشم داره سوت می‌کشه!»
در این گزارش، یکی از مأموران پلیس آگاهی توضیح می‌دهد که مرد بازداشت‌شده شیشه‌های خودرو را دودی کرده و سازوکار باز کردن درها را دست‌کاری کرده بود تا مسافران نتوانند از خودرو خارج شوند. گزارشگر نیز می‌گوید او خودرو را به شکلی کنار جدول یا موانع پارک می‌کرد که باز کردن در برای مسافران ممکن نباشد.
