My mother-in-law captured this moment in Virginia: a group of Buddhist monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center walking over 2,300 miles from Texas to Washington, D.C. for a Walk for Peace.
Hate is trending. Evil is exalted. We are at war with one another and most of all, with ourselves. The world feels loud because most of us are not at peace internally. The outer world is only a mirror.
As James Baldwin reminds us, the world is held together by the love and passion of very few people. Love has never been popular. Freedom has never been easy. But it is a choice made daily.
Peace isn’t abstract or unreachable. It starts with how we treat ourselves and each other. Love your neighbor as yourself. Drop the judgment. Sit with yourself. Cultivate inner peace. Decide, again and again, not to become the monster. Choose to be human.
I find it telling that while many religions are creating global tension for power, land, and control even bracing for war Buddhist monks are walking for peace.
thanks for the video
