Well, when the universe gives you a birthday only once a year, you might as well make some noise about it! Had to jump on this audio because 58 isn’t going to wait around for me to finish celebrating 57! PMKN SZN 2026 -> OVER Good long month. I’m tired but still working. Wish I was planning and preparing for another season (the fields need cover crops!) but … alas. Seeing the folks that come every year is awesome. Ronnie (previous post) is a very welcome face every morning in October. I could and would keep doing pumpkin season and more, but speculative property owners will speculate, and the messiness of doing business and farming is not always the most profitable (in fact rarely). Even if it can pay the bills, some folks will always want more. But it is rewarding nonetheless. I personally value the community, land, water, and family that this place has allowed to flourish despite currents in the opposite direction. There’s a quality of personality required to do this that not everyone has, which is fine, but it’s closer to selflessness than capital ambitions — “planting trees that you’ll never see the shade of”. What is the future if not good soil and community I’ll still prune, mulch, and care for my trees while I can. Hopefully I can see them for another spring. Thanks to all that came out this year!
