So many homeowners jump into buying with the best intentions — but without a clear plan or an understanding of what’s really going on behind the walls or under the foundation.

That’s when a small leak can turn into a full-on slab leak.

This is your reminder: when you’re house hunting, ask about these 5 things that can quickly turn into major stressors later.

✔ Roof & Plumbing – Has the roof been replaced? Are the pipes still original (galvanized) or updated to copper/PVC?

✔ Electrical System – Some older homes may have outdated panels or wiring. Is it up to code?

✔ HVAC & Insulation – Older homes may lack energy efficiency. Has the HVAC system been replaced? Are windows upgraded?

✔ Foundation & Drainage – Check for cracks in the foundation and signs of water drainage issues.

✔ Permits for Renovations – If there have been major upgrades, were they done with permits?

While older homes in Mission Viejo and RSM often have great bones and charm, a small inspection now saves thousands later. Don’t skip the details — your dream home should feel perfect and safe.

Because learning about a home before you move in is the difference between a smooth home-buying experience — or major regret.
