TARO ISHIDA / 石田多朗

This is the vinyl release of the soundtrack for Shōgun.

I worked on arranging many of the traditional Japanese instruments used in the score — including instruments from gagaku, the ancient court music of Japan.

Those sounds inspired the music I'm now performing live.

On March 29 we'll be performing a concert in London at Bush Hall featuring instruments such as shō, hichiriki and biwa together with a classical string ensemble.

It's a rare chance to hear these sounds live.
