The Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Women and Child Development in India, Savitri Thakur, delivered India’s national statement at the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. She highlighted India’s efforts to strengthen women’s access to justice through legal awareness, efficient investigation mechanisms, and adequate courts.
The Minister also underlined initiatives such as Nari Adalat and Gram Nyayalaya for grassroots dispute resolution, the new victim-centric criminal law frameworks, and the Tele-Law programme providing pre-litigation legal assistance across the country.
