I’m A Yoruba Boy; If You Give Me Black Soap, I’ll Gladly Collect It. Our Tradition Should Not Be D£monised — Singer Olamide Defends Yoruba Culture

Nigerian singer Olamide has spoken in defence of Yoruba culture and traditions, insisting that African heritage should not be d£monised or portrayed as diabolical.

The singer made the remarks during his appearance at a movie premiere today, where he emphasised the importance of promoting and sensitising people about the value of their cultural heritage.

According to him, “This is really just promoting the culture and trying to sensitize people that our culture and our tradition is not di@bolical”

He further added, “Our culture and our tradition is not to be d£monized. And we are proud of who we are, where we are coming from and everything about our heritage, our tradition and our culture”

“I’m a Yoruba boy; if you give me black soap, I’ll gladly collect it” he concluded.

Some evenings leave you feeling inspired long after they’re over.

So honoured to have been invited to Grand Cru in support of @UHNFoundation - thank you to @one.twenty.eight for introducing me to their work. What made this evening so special wasn’t just the incredible food, wine and setting, but the opportunity to celebrate and connect with the people behind the impact - the generous donors, brilliant scientists and researchers, and the many individuals who are helping advance the future of health care.

To sit alongside people who are making such a meaningful difference in the lives of others was truly inspiring. It was a beautiful reminder that behind every breakthrough, every clinical trial and every advancement in patient care, there are people who believe in making a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this unforgettable evening possible and to UHN for including me in such a meaningful celebration. The work being done at University Health Network is extraordinary, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to experience firsthand the passion and generosity that help make it possible.

I’m so excited to tell you that i’ll be performing my own set at Mighty Hoopla 2027!🦋✨

I had a ball being a guest performer twice for Cheryl & Olly but 3rd times a charm 💫

I was due to be part of the last line up to mark 15 years of Cinderella’s Eye’s but a girl got her happily ever after and my baby was going to be born just too close to the date.

I’ll be celebrating with songs from the album and a few surprise favourites. I can’t wait to get planning 😍

I can’t think of a better place to do this.
Whats even more special is that this year marks 10 years of Hoopla. A place full of love & joy with a community that’s given me and my girls so much over the years ❤️

And have you seen THAT line up?! I can’t wait to be part of it.

See you there 💚💫

Happy Godzilla Day 🦖

72 years ago today, the original Godzilla opened in Japanese theaters on November 3, 1954. Born from Japan’s fears of nuclear destruction, the monster became a global icon whose story has been reinvented for generations.

From the classic Showa, Heisei and Millennium eras to Hollywood’s 1998 take, the MonsterVerse and the unsettling Shin Godzilla in 2016, every generation has had its own version. His appearance, size and role have changed, shifting between humanity’s greatest threat and its unlikely protector.

Godzilla Minus One brought that legacy to a new milestone in 2023. Its story of survival in postwar Japan became a worldwide hit, earning over $116 million and winning the franchise’s first Oscar, for Best Visual Effects, in 2024.

Now, director Takashi Yamazaki returns with Godzilla Minus Zero. Arriving on the anniversary that started it all, the sequel carries that momentum into Godzilla’s next chapter.

Which version of Godzilla will always be your favorite? 💭
