Honored to see these prints from the works I created for Xander Soren’s personal collection and wine launch in Japan now installed at the incredible Michelin-starred omakase restaurant Cainoya in Kyoto.
I had the chance to visit Cainoya’s original restaurant during the launch, which makes it especially meaningful to see the works now placed in their exceptional new space in Kyoto.
Also sharing a few photos from a culinary magazine feature about the restaurant and these pieces. Kyoto is one of my favorite places, so it’s wonderful to have my geisha paintings there at a restaurant where I had such an incredible experience.
Thank you, Xander, for gifting these prints to Cainoya, and thank you Takayoshi Shiozawa and the Cainoya team for showcasing them so beautifully! Arigato gozaimasu!!

Here’s a translation from Cainoya’s post:
“SOPHIE × XANDERSORENWINE’S ART
Trilogy Complete
The artwork that was displayed when we first opened was one of the original pieces from a trilogy painted by LA artist SOPHIE, inspired by a memory of my close friend XANDER spending time with geiko and maiko in Gion. The charming Sophie is a southpaw (left-handed). She paints in a single stroke without looking at the canvas. Previously at Cainoya, she even drew my portrait directly on one of Xander’s wine bottles.”
