God’s Mom is Bria Salmena and Andrew Matthews. Formed in Toronto, the shadowy exploits of the duo have surfaced in a handful of shows over the past few years. The project has grown from sample-based noise experiments into a sound more opulent and club-infused. Salmena’s Calabrian, Italian heritage envelops every facet of the creative process, as traditional tarantellas inspire each song. Lyrics are driven by stories of the cycles of injustice for women, the idea of identity, and a desire to create control in a world that closes in more every day. Salmena keeps it personal by singing primarily in Italian, and uses familiar and ancestral anecdotes as lyrical catalysts. Evasive by nature, the two present their torrent of a live show only when the time seems right. New body music and old-world voices. Seedy sounds for a seedy offering. Famiglia. Libertà.

Bonny Poon / Conditions was founded in Paris in 2017 on the 26th floor of a brutalist residential tower in the 13e, and since 2023 has operated from Toronto’s Chinatown. The gallery highlights the conditions that make art possible—from production to circulation and sale—framing attitudes, positions, and networks alongside the art on display. Both a gallery and an autofiction, Bonny Poon / Conditions supports transgressive and critical experimentation, often bridging contemporary art with nightlife, music, and cinema, while drawing attention to the backstage relations among artists, clients, critics, and dealers.
