It doesn’t look like much maybe, but it’s my childhood home. One that my dad busted his butt to keep standing up over the past 60 years. It always baffled me the things he was able to accomplish in his life with so many challenges he hurdled in his early life. This made him conservative. Wore the same clothes for like 20 years. We ate at Dennys, and mostly cooked at home. He gave us everything. And after all this time, and now that he’s gone, this house still stands. I’m doing everything I can to prop it back up. Though his hand-built gates actually lasted the full 60 years! It is costing a lot. And I’ll be honest, it’s the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, not mechanically but financially throwing in I have no idea about this stuff. The stress has been though the roof. Last night this hobby took a little of the pressure off. Much more than I expected. It’s certainly not over by far, but every step of the way sports cards have been adding walls and roofs. Sure I worked hard to buy them, but their value has grown. I am grateful. And they just may save me and the home my dad built, and I will rebuild. It’s 10% of what my dad did. He totally did the hard part of loosening the jar, thenhanded it to me and is making me feel like I opened it. Even while he’s gone, the effects of his strength still ripple through my life.
