Xinlyu Wang （Shu）

I’m delighted to share that, with the support of the Odyssey Travel Grant from @saicpics , I will be traveling to Riga, Latvia to participate in @scentartfestival .

The festival aims to expand the boundaries of contemporary art, music, dance, performance, and literature through olfactory perception. The 2026 theme, “Looking through the fog of uncertainty,” explores global instabilities through multisensory experiences. It will take place from May 5 to 10 at Radošā rūpnīca Veldze (@veldze.radosarupnica ).

As a strongly community-driven collective initiative, the festival seeks to build a decentralized network— which deeply resonates with my own intention to situate artistic practice within non-mainstream narratives and geopolitical contexts when choosing my travel destinations.

In addition to presenting my installation Walk with My Dog, I will also collaborate with other artists on a smell walk. The photo shows a smell walking workshop I led in 2023 in Shanghai’s Shikumen architectural complexes. I can’t wait to explore Riga’s unique smellscape soon!
