The Siberian Husky wasn’t bred to be your pet. It was bred to run 100 miles a day across frozen tundra for the Chukchi people one of the most sophisticated dog breeding cultures in history.
Then we put it in a condo.
That’s not a bad dog. That’s a mismatch between what the dog was built for and the world it woke up in.
In this episode, I trace the Husky from the Chukotka Peninsula all the way to the 1925 Serum Run to Nome and explain why understanding that history is the only way to actually live with one.
