FYI: You don’t need a car to get around the Dolomites! You can do and see everything in the Dolomites, from major sites and attractions to villages and more, without ever needing to rent your own car. Here’s how:

Hiking (obviously) 🥾You can get from town to town or hut to hut on foot!
Biking 🚵 Whether you bikepack, road cycle, or mountain bike, you can reach a lot of places by bike and even take your bike on some of the lifts! Speaking of lifts…
Ski lifts 🚠 You can cover a lot more ground utilizing lift passes. Hiking purists may see this as cheating, but we prefer to look at it as optimizing the system to the max.
Buses 🚌 A local bus system operates throughout the region and is a great way to explore on a budget.
Trains 🚞 If you’re in the Bolzano area, you can take advantage of the regional train system.
Private drivers 🚖 If you really have no other option, there are private transfers available which still keep you from driving the winding mountain roads yourself.

Head to our link in bio for our 5-day and 10-day Dolomites itineraries - both of which are car free!
