Four years ago today I went on my first big solo trip. 6 months, one 40 liter backpack, one plane ticket and zero clues as to what the hell I was doing.
I imagine that there are few things in this world that can teach you more about yourself than solo travel. It has got to be one of the scariest, most frustrating and most liberating experiences that you can ever have. In those moments of uncertainty, you’re forced to rely on yourself in ways that everyday life rarely demands. It has matured me in ways that I cannot explain, while simultaneously bringing me back to the childlike curiosity and bewilderment of the world that so many of us have forgotten.
