From research to reality!
After researching the origins of modern accounting, banking, finance, and capitalism, our ACCT 3120 and FIN 3050 students have completed their journey through Italy.
In Venice, they walked the same streets that once supported one of the world’s most advanced commercial economies, seeing firsthand how trade, credit, and financial systems operated during its Golden Age. In Milan, they explored the setting where Luca Pacioli worked alongside Leonardo da Vinci at the Court of Milan, connecting mathematics, commerce, and creativity in the heart of the Renaissance.
From the shift away from Roman numerals to the publication of Pacioli’s work in 1494, students experienced how developments in accounting and finance were closely tied to broader changes in art, science, and culture across Northern Italy.
Thank you to the Department of Finance and School of Accountancy for supporting this opportunity, and to the amazing students for the effort and engagement they brought throughout the semester.
What started as research ended as perspective.
