sooo dunno if this is actually 5 or 6.. but anywho! this piece is about asian trends becoming more popular in the west and thus becoming more “normalized.” ik this is a hot take but this movement of many things like boba, matcha, jade, tons of cuisine, etc, was super positive for me looking back at it. no gatekeeping here! many of these things i grew up on that were viewed as distasteful decades ago are now being appreciated and i can appreciate that. it made me feel more connected to both sides of how i was raised and eventually made me aware of so many positive things about being viet/laos!
