I’ve got the perfect xmas patterns for you! Comment “XMAS” to get a link for gift patterns 🫶🏼 There’s literally nothing better than sewing up a gift in 30 minutes and using up fabric scraps. I love sewing projects like this and being able to sew something I’m actually proud to gift is literally the best feeling 🥹 If you’ve always wanted to do this, take this as a sign to actually do it!! 🎄 #sewing #sewingpattern #sewingtutorial #beginnersewing #dressmaking

Now onto the holiday that matters
Turn on notifications for real-time market alerts 🚨 US stocks surged on Wednesday after Democrats secured control of both the House and Senate in the midterm elections, with the Dow jumping more than 1,000–1,300 points (around 2–2.5%) and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rising roughly 1.5–2%, adding over $1 trillion in market capitalization as investors embraced the clarity of decisive results and the prospect of gridlock under a divided government. Initial overnight losses reversed as President Trump accepted the outcome, easing uncertainty, though some AI and data-center stocks faced pressure over potential regulatory scrutiny while sectors like healthcare and clean energy gained. Cryptocurrencies also pumped in tandem, with Bitcoin rebounding from a brief dip near $75,600–$76,000 to trade above $80,000 as broader risk assets recovered once election uncertainty faded.
During WWII, British soldiers often organized theatrical performances to entertain troops and boost morale. At Shornemead Fort near Gravesend, Kent, members of the Royal Artillery were rehearsing a Christmas charity show in 1940 when a coastal alert interrupted them. With no time to change, the men rushed to their gun positions in dresses, stockings, and military helmets. Photographer John Topham captured the unusual scene. Britain's Ministry of Information initially censored the photographs, fearing German propagandists would use them to ridicule British troops and undermine morale. However, some images appeared in The War Illustrated in February 1941. Although the soldiers manned their coastal weapons, there's no confirmed evidence that they actually fired them during the alert. 📸: John Topham
