Before reacting to the Agnipath revision, understand the numbers. Earlier: out of 100 Agniveers, 25 entered regular service after four years and 75 exited with Seva Nidhi. Now, the first 25 still enter on merit. The remaining 75 get an additional two-year engagement. Simple illustration: 100 Agniveers → 25 enter regular service after Year 4 → 10 choose Seva Nidhi → 65 continue for two more years → If 60 meet the criteria at Year 6, then 25 + 60 = 85 can move into regular service. It is not an automatic 85% guarantee. Merit, performance, medical fitness and prescribed standards will still apply. The key change: Agniveers now get a second performance-based pathway—not simply an exit after four years. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.
