So grateful for the many lessons this sport has taught me. I am so thankful for everyone who walked beside me, encouraged me, and believed in me. I have enjoyed playing this sport so much but now it’s time to move on to the next chapter.

SURPRISE… WE’VE MOVED TO DUBAI! 🇦🇪🥹❤️ Still feels a little surreal actually saying that out loud! Leaving behind our family, friends and the home we’ve poured so much love into over the years has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever made. And as exciting as this next chapter is, it’s also been incredibly emotional. 🥹 But we kept coming back to one thing… whilst Bassett is still so young, if there was ever a time to take a risk, step outside our comfort zone and experience something completely different as a family, it’s now. ❤️ We have no idea what the next few years will bring, but sometimes you just have to take the opportunity, be a little brave and see where life takes you. The last 24 hours have been a bit of a whirlwind, so we’ve taken some time away from everything to relax, get settled and start finding our new normal. I know you’ve all got SO many questions, and I promise I’ll be sharing a Q&A reel next to answer as many as I can! For now, we’re just feeling incredibly grateful, a little nervous and very excited for this next chapter. Camas Books canceled an upcoming event in our infoshop after learning that the planned speaker has explicitly expressed support for Da'esh/ ISIS, which is a matter of public record. Our decision to cancel this event has nothing to do with supporting the Canadian government. Any person who supports Da'esh/ISIS is by definition a supporter of religious authoritarianism, ethnic genocide and gender-based violence. Per our Mission Statement, Camas exists to promote anti-authoritarian and anti-hierarchical activism, and to work cooperatively in association with other anti-authoritarian groups to educate, organize and strengthen our social commitments, both globally and locally. Camas does not support, nor will we ever support or platform states, political parties or reactionary organizations. Especially oppressive organizations such as Da'esh/ISIS. Our collective, past and present, includes Muslim members, and we stand by them in denouncing authoritarianism and religious fundamentalism that directly impact their communities. In the future we strongly urge event organizers to be transparent in their intended use of our space and to read our mission statement and principles of unity ahead of time to prevent any confusion of our political boundaries.
