HU Staff: Jamal Osborne @_j.osborne Democrats now control both chambers of Congress, reopening the possibility that lawmakers could pursue a third impeachment of President Donald Trump. However, ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is warning Democrats that such a move could seriously damage their political future. ___________________________________________________ Smith went so far as to make a prediction about the 2028 presidential election. He said that if Democrats pursued impeachment, a Republican would win the White House. ___________________________________________________ “I’m going to make a prediction right here and now,” Smith said. “If the Democrats pursue impeachment against Trump, I’m guaranteeing that a Republican will win the presidency in 2028. You can book it.” Smith said Democrats should use their control of Congress to demonstrate that they are capable of governing effectively. “Don’t waste your time impeaching him. Govern the country. Show that you want to govern. Show that you’re thinking about the American people instead of yourself, your vitriol, and your own commitment to vengeance,” he said. ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 Straight Shooter With Stephen A. Three American servicemembers were killed in a July 17 Iranian strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in the Jordanian desert. Satellite imagery shows the nighttime attack damaged at least 19 buildings where troops sleep. It was one of the deadliest nights of the war for U.S. forces. But it wasn’t the only attack targeting American troops where they live and sleep. That same week, Iran hit multiple housing units at other U.S. military installations across the region. The July strikes marked an alarming shift in Iran’s tactics and revealed an improvement in the regime’s ability to sequence attacks and hit targets with precision. Iran was taking more direct aim at the buildings that house American troops, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of satellite data, Iranian military statements and interviews with U.S. officials. In all, the Journal found 274 structures at 24 installations across the Middle East that showed damage during the war’s first six months. Iran has hit America’s installations hard. Now, with President Trump considering a new wave of attacks on Iran, the U.S. military pulled some personnel off several of those locations ahead of possible retaliation, the Journal has reported. This comes as Pentagon officials worry that the regime has conserved some of its most sophisticated missiles and could improve its attacks in the next round of fighting. The latest cost estimate of the Iran war stands at $47.1 billion as of Oct. 16, according to a document viewed by the Journal. That doesn’t include damage to bases, which the Pentagon separately priced at a minimum of $5 billion, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter. That number could potentially be as high as $15 billion, according to a separate person briefed on the cost. The Defense Department and U.S. Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, declined to comment. At the link in our bio, see our analysis, the most comprehensive public accounting of the destruction to date. Satellite and other images: European Space Agency, Planet Labs, Airbus, Google Earth
