Opinion: Is this 'the big one' — the market crash everyone has been predicting for months or even years?

What many investors predicted would happen yesterday is happening today, writes the FT's US financial commentator Rob Armstrong. The entire AI trade is coming under fire and dragging down the rest of the market with it.

Yesterday, the hyperscalers — Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta — had a good day. The logic was that the big players who already had significant data centre capacity owned assets that would increase in value if new data centre construction got harder. That logic collapsed this morning.

What I’ve been up to:

Sometimes, the most painful relationship isn't the one where someone leaves you. It's the one where they stay but slowly make you feel unwanted. 💔

One of the hardest truths about relationships is that someone's presence doesn't always mean they are emotionally present.

They may sleep beside you, share a home with you, eat the food you prepare, and remain part of your everyday life. But emotionally, you may feel completely alone.

You ask for attention, and they get irritated. You express your feelings, and they dismiss them. You cry, and they walk away instead of trying to understand your pain.

And slowly, you start questioning yourself.

You wonder whether you're asking for too much, whether you're too sensitive, or whether you need to change something about yourself.

But here's something important to remember:

You are not asking for too much when you ask for basic kindness, respect, and emotional connection.

Sometimes, what makes a relationship difficult to leave is not the happiness you experience every day, but the occasional moments that remind you of how beautiful things used to be.

A little affection, one peaceful conversation, or one good day can make you forget months of emotional distance.

You keep waiting for the person you fell in love with, hoping that version of them will return and stay.

But love should not feel like constantly waiting for someone to treat you well.

Real love isn't about being perfect every day. It's about making an effort, communicating honestly, taking responsibility, and caring about how your actions affect the person beside you.

Never measure a relationship only by how long someone stays. Pay attention to how they make you feel while they're there.

And remember, choosing yourself doesn't mean you have stopped believing in love. It means you have stopped accepting the absence of it.

You deserve a relationship where you don't have to beg for the warmth that should come naturally. ❤️

Have you ever stayed attached to someone's occasional kindness while silently hurting because of their everyday behaviour?
