After nearly a year of working on it, the longest it’s ever taken me to finish a painting by far, I’m so proud to present you my latest painting, Kankakee, 1938. Here we see a train of the New York Central passing through Kankakee, Illinois.

So why did it take me a year to work on? For the best reasons. I met the woman of my dreams, unfortunately she lives across the pond so we spent every free minute I had FaceTiming, getting to know each other and falling in love. Then I took up a second job with Uber because I reckon, being unmarried, living by myself, that I should take this season of my life as an opportunity to make some good money because I refuse to work more hours than I have to when I’m married.

Then my now fiancée came to America for the summer, and finally I was able to paint on Sundays because we’d spend all day creating together. You should check out @aroundtheyeardiy . As a creative, I can’t drive home what a difference it makes to be with a fellow creative, we understand how important how sacred each other’s creating time is.

All this to say, this took me a year to make and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. With me becoming Catholic and meeting the girl of my dreams just two weeks after I started working on this painting, I can say:

This painting was worked on during the most important and transformative time of my life.

I hope you all enjoy!

I’m doing something this year I’ve never done before 💋

You’ve been with me all fall, answering my surveys and telling me which shade you want next. So this holiday season, my inner circle gets to shop our sale two days early 🤫 plus a FREE mystery gloss from me with your order (while they last) ✨

It’s free to join and only takes 10 seconds.

Kindness. Grace. Generosity.

Here is a young man on Halloween, not thinking about what he could receive, but seeing an opportunity to give.

He saw a need others might have overlooked and found an unexpected way to meet it.

May his simple act of generosity inspire us all to look a little closer, care a little more, and find creative and unexpected ways to give to others.

May we see more of this. May we be more of this.
