On April 12th, 2026, at 10:37 p.m. the most fabulous, magnetic, STUNNINGLY gorgeous, golden-hearted, maternal queen, & matriarch of villages: Earth Angel-turned-Spirit Angel LYNN BARRIE, left our human world.
She died in a rich emerald silk nightgown, the glitter gold eyeshadow she’d insisted I’d adorn on her eyelids days prior still glimmering, “32 Flavors” by Ani DiFranco reverberating through the speakers, because my ~MUM~ was as cool as she was glam. 💅
She lived a spectacular life. Born wild, free & fiercely adventurous in 1947 in Northern England to loving parents; she grew up all over the world. She spent her childhood & teen years in Pakistan & Nigeria, attended 16 schools, rode horses, climbed mountains & had a slew of eclectic rescue pets: A donkey who slept in her bed, a monkey named Fred, a cheeky Mongoose & an Otter who swam in the pool & allegedly had the longest eyelashes in the world. (She’ll haunt me if I don’t disclaim: she was feverishly against having wild animals as pets, these were rescues, most of whom had been abused. She NEVER took us near a zoo).
Yes, she was a glowing, insanely-stylish MODEL & sparkly international party girl—but there was so much nuance to my mother—she could never be described in singular way. She was a loyal big sis to my aunties; a protector who never left their sides.
She was a fab wife to my amazing dad; a queen who ruled the castle with love & strength & TOUGH, BEAUTIFUL TRUTHS. She had the same best friends her entire life, was never fleeting or frivolous, but always open & embracing to new friendships in every season of life. She was an athlete, a crew rowing champion & climbed Kilimanjaro. A TRUE lover of the arts. A ferocious activist.
Mostly; she was the embodiment of mother. Not just to her kids—but to our friends. In high school she took in my friends, welcomed them into our home & exposed them to their inner light. I’m proud to be part of her ANGEL lineage; Blake you better be making her endless cups of TEA in heaven—you’re both the greatest things to ever happen to me.
I’m my mother’s daughter; grieving but oh so rich in LOVE. Her love bleeds through the cracks of my shattered, broken heart 💔
