One of my absolute “must-dos” in Toyama Prefecture! 🚂
The Kurobe Gorge is absolutely breathtaking and the Torokko (trolley) train ride was great! 😍
How to get there from Tokyo:
🚅 Shinkansen: I booked the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kurobe-Unazukionsen Station the day before on Klook, it’s just so easy! If you book your tickets on Klook, you can use my code MARIJAPANKLOOK to get a discount on your tickets and activities! 🎟️
🚃 Local Connection: once I arrive, I walked over to Shin-Kurobe Station and take the local Toyama Chiho Railway to Unazuki Station.
This is where you can take the nostalgic train, the open-air carriages take you on an 80-minute journey through some of Japan’s deepest gorges. It’s breathtaking!
📌That’s why you should be careful when you visit:
• mid-October to mid-November is peak season (Autumn foliage is stunning but very busy!) and also national holidays like Golden week!
• You can book tickets on the official Kurobe Gorge Railway website up to 3 months in advance.
