7 months agoGeorge Orwell (1903–1950), born Eric Arthur Blair, was an English writer and journalist known for his sharp criticism of political power, propaganda, and authoritarianism. He fought in the Spanish Civil War, an experience that shaped his views on truth and ideology, later captured in Homage to Catalonia (1938). Orwell is best known for Animal Farm (1945) and 1984 (1949), two of the most influential works ever written on totalitarian control, censorship, and manipulation of reality. His essay Politics and the English Language (1946) remains a cornerstone in understanding how language can be used to distort truth. His work continues to define modern discussions around freedom, truth, and power.
