“Tyrannosaur” changed Olivia Colman’s life. In several interviews, the Oscar-winning actress for The Favourite has said that playing Hannah, a woman experiencing domestic violence, not only launched her into the world of cinema but also led her to become a patron of Tender, a British charity that uses the arts and theatre to educate young people about healthy relationships and abuse prevention. Watching Paddy Considine’s film (or perhaps even just this scene from the Reel), it’s easy to understand its impact. With the rawness and honesty so characteristic of independent cinema, Tyrannosaur begins as the story of a man (Peter Mullan) seeking redemption, but evolves into the account of two people tormented by violence. In Joseph’s (Peter Mullan) case, the violence lies within him: a widowed alcoholic consumed by rage. In Hannah’s case, it is inside her own home: despite being a kind-hearted woman, her days are marked by an abusive relationship. To prepare for the role, Colman consulted Refuge, a charity dedicated to combating domestic violence, to ensure that her portrayal of trauma and abuse would be authentic. The actress said she felt enormous pressure to get it right, so that people who had survived similar situations wouldn’t feel that her performance was false or artificial. An extraordinary actress by nature, Olivia got it absolutely right: her performance in Tyrannosaur proves to be as delicate as it is devastating. October was hands down one of my favorite months of 2026 🥹 So many pinch me moments and little reminders of why I love what I do. • Flew to LA for the @victoriassecret Fashion Show and somehow ended up with my MOST VIRAL VIDEO EVER… over 75 MILLION views?! Still can’t wrap my head around that one 🤭 • Hosted our 4th SOLD OUT @next.gencreators summit with my brother @sebastiangenta, bringing together 300+ people and incredible speakers like @katstickler, @diannacohen, @samiclarke and so many more. Building this together has been one of the most rewarding things ever. (And yes, our 5th is already in the works!!!) • Finally got our wedding film back and cried all over again. Being able to relive the most special weekend of our lives whenever I want is something I’ll never take for granted. 🦙 • Stayed SO consistent with my fitness routine. 2x strength training, 2x Pilates, a little yoga sprinkled in, and 15K steps a day. Really proud of the discipline I’ve built and how good it makes me feel. • started casually running again! no pressure or expectations. Just running when I feel like it and chasing those endorphins. • Went on 3 different podcasts and did a few TV segments. Public speaking used to intimidate me, and now I’m actually starting to LOVE it. Proof that the more you do something that scares you, the more comfortable you become. • And maybe the biggest win of all? I’ve been in such a good place mentally. I feel my best when I’m challenging myself, staying productive, moving my body, and working toward things that genuinely excite me. Sharing all of this not to brag, but because I’m genuinely PROUD of myself. And I think we should all get a little more comfortable celebrating our own wins, big and small. I’m a firm believer that the harder you work, the more opportunities you create for yourself. Things don’t always happen overnight, but showing up consistently, putting in the work eventually opens doors you. Feeling extra grateful going into the end of the year.
