The first slide is a post that was posted on @riseuprva page, but has been deleted. RISE Up was founded by two BLACK WOMEN @ebonyy_____ and myself @therealmsre Additionally, multiple extraordinary black women were behind building up the organization! As a black woman and cofounder of RISE Up, I was HIGHLY disappointed by the insensitivity of this post! This post was made in very bad taste and did not align with the founding principles of RISE Up. This post ignored the fact that a Black Woman was murdered due to Domestic Violence. Rather, this post highlighted achievements of the perpetrator. This post highlighted statistics of suicide by black men in America. This post ignored the victims! This post made no mention to bring awareness to the statistics of black women killed by domestic violence! Black Men, yes I’m addressing BLACK MEN because the perpetrator was a Black Man and the individual who made this post is a Black Man! Black Men, are you going to take accountability and hold your brothers accountable, are you going to check your brothers, or are you going to keep making excuses??? Black Women/Girls are one of the most Unprotected and most Disrespected groups in America!! If our BLACK MEN won’t protect us, who will? I’m so disgusted and disappointed! And if ANYONE has an issue with ANYTHING I said, feel free to express your opinions. And to the BLACK MEN who are true protectors, who hold their brothers accountable, and who don’t make excuses, WE LOVE & APPRECIATE YOU! ❤️

@mr._bey718 Dave, the original post spoke for itself. I have messages from men and women who felt the post was very insensitive. People speaking up about violence against black women is not pitting black men and women against each other. It’s holding black men accountable and bringing awareness to domestic violence. The only people who feel that it’s “divisive” are those who participate in it or coddles those who do. Everything else you’re saying now has absolutely nothing to do with what was said in the original post. Have a great day.

Thank you for sharing the data and statistics because this is important to know. The content specialists were notified that the co-founder felt disdain and the post was then removed. You and your feelings are valid. I however, will not support a narrative that positions Black Men and Women against one another. We are one head / mind with two sides, and we need each other! we are at war and being warred upon . It doesn’t in anyway denote that this man and the other men that murdered their women and children are wrong and everything about it is wrong. The RISE UP family and community outreach programs client base are and have been 96% BLACK WOMEN , and in my personal professional work 92% of those I help, provide care for and support are Women of African descent . It saddened me to think that you received the post how you did but also it disappointed me because • when you were in the hospital we came to your bedside to support and show up and give you 💚like we should and • when I was navigating a medical crisis you came to my aid and support in the hospital and even supported my child(ren) and took my son gifts being that I was confined to the hospital and hospital bed. It’s no secret that you and Ebony are the founders, it’s often spoken in board meetings and in conversations with elders that give counsel to me and colleagues. Your evident wisdom and spirit are part of the reason I’ve poured into this organization and upheld it over the last several years. Our children are the ones that are going to have to find ways to navigate the trauma of the violence and divide of the Black Man and Woman , and their children have the intergenerational trauma on its way. When you came to see me at Johnston willis hospital that trauma was what got me to that brain injury. Thank you for expressing your feelings, and they are valid , however this is a silent epidemic and a health crisis we must own, solve, and then heal together. Peace

Dr. Fairfax is now an ancestor that we do and will honor in traditional ritual. I will not denote that Justin Fairfax murdered that sister unjustly and I do stand ten toes down in the centered fact that we are in a public health crisis and a silent epidemic. His acts are horrid and unjustifiable and I would not place him as the victim but I will honor the fact that we need each other- Black Men, and Black Women. We are under attack by those outside and we are imploding within our homes and communities. I will not accept any position or narrative as you or any other Black Womans adversary. I personally am responsible for the care - support and nurture of a Black Woman while supporting Multiple Black Women through the RISE UP family and community outreach program. 96% of the client base that the program serves and has served are single Black women with children. I don’t talk and post about it much because I actively work with them on a daily basis. It stains me to think that you felt that I disregarded Cerrina Fairfax but I also accept how the post may have been received by you. It’s no secret that you and Ebony co-founded the organization . It will never be and it’s often acknowledged and celebrated . The door is always open for you to re-enter it and support our community of Black Women, Men, and children. However, the organization is now a core partner and officer organization of other networks that prioritize the healing and prevention of firearm injuries and deaths of our community members, well-being prioritization and support resources for those navigating trauma and crisis’.

Peace, and thank you for freely expressing your thoughts my sister. Yes the post was removed, and no it did not highlight “achievements”. It was removed out of respect for who YOU ARE, and the fact that your feelings are valid coupled with the fact that we have multiple clients and students that are adult aged and young Black women. That is not my personal page, however I am the principle shareholder of Raising Interest in social equality and the interim Director of R.I.S.E. UP RVA. It saddens me in part to receive communication in this way that you feel that Cerrina’s murder or the murder of any of our Women would be dismissive to me. My physical cousins / biological family are harmed and navigating her murder because they know Dr. Cerrina Fairfax personally.
