Last year, when the government proposed Social Network Bill, it directly threatened the queer community, along with other marginalized communities of Nepal. By mandating the use of legal names on social media and requiring mandatory platform registration, the bill compromised the privacy and safety of queer individuals to connect, making digital rights a matter of physical and mental safety.

To address this, Body & Data organized a Chiya Charcha session with queer participants focused on anonymity and Social Network Bill. We brought together queer individuals and discussed what possible harms does the bill invite if passed.
