I truly was not planning on being at Stagecoach this year. Given my son was still going to be a newborn, I already knew I would probably miss it and had accepted that I’d be staying home this year.
Then life changed in the hardest way, and after losing my mother, we ended up with her extra bracelet. Somehow, that felt like the calling to go in her remembrance.
While registering our bracelets for the weekend, I looked at the code on the back of mine and coincidentally, the first four letters were AMUM…The same day, my license plates came in and mind you, those were created months ago. Out of all days, all places, all timing… that was the message I received.
Some people may call it coincidence, but when you’ve lost someone you love this deeply, certain things just feel different and you begin to see everything differently. To me, it felt like her saying, “You really thought I wasn’t coming with you?” lol.
Even in a place full of music, laughter, and people everywhere, grief still found me. Tears were shed. She was missed in every moment, and of course a Budweiser was still cracked for her.
No matter how much time passes, there’s an emptiness that never fully leaves. But somehow she still finds ways to remind me she’s near when I need it most.
I miss you every single day, Mom. 🤍 ILY
