HU Staff: Kecia Gayle @kecia.kae The Virgin Islands just did something it had never done. After 56 years of electing governors, voters chose a woman for the job, and her name is Stacey Plaskett. ___________________________________________________ On Tuesday night, Nov. 3, she and running mate Milton Potter took the governor’s race with roughly 62.8% of the vote. Plaskett reportedly carried all 20 voting precincts across St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John. ___________________________________________________ Plaskett, who will become the first Black woman to govern a U.S. territory, was also elected on the same night Keisha Lance Bottoms made history in Georgia as the first Black woman elected governor of a state. ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 Getty Images /
BREAKING: Mother of Palestine Action prisoner condemns the Palestine Action ban whilst she and eleven others from Silence Elbit Drones are shutting down Elbit Systems' weapons factory in Filton, Bristol. Emma Kamio, mother of Ellie Kamio, who was sentenced as a terrorist for destroying Israeli quadcopter drones inside the Filton factory, is locking on to shut down the same factory whilst the ban is challenged in the Supreme Court. Whilst her daughter was sentenced as a terrorist, Ellie read out the adapted words from Palestinian author Marwan Makhoul: "In order to hear the birds, the drones must be silent". Now, her mother is also silencing Elbit drones.
How I picked my surgeon for my 🍒 job. *currently 2 weeks post op* In trying to condense this story as much as possible I’ve obviously omitted some details but I should note that I spent an entire year researching local surgeons, looking at their work, reviewing their patients testimonials and asking around for personal experiences. Whilst my first consultation was quite confronting, disappointing and jarring, I’m grateful for the entire experience as it led me ultimately to a surgeon I felt extremely comfortable with and valued. Stay tuned for PART 2!
Some stories are written in moments, others are kept in memories. Mine found its way into this dress, where every detail holds a little meaning and every thread carries a piece of our story🥹 Thank you ciii @christiebasill , for understanding my story and turning it into something more beautiful than I could have imagined🥹🤍
