Beloved returning director, Louisa Muller, is back at Garsington Opera for her third production! She brings her sumptuous telling of La traviata, set in 1939 Paris, to the Wormsley Estate stage. Europe, freedom, and the lovers are on edge, and she brings the fragility amid raucousness to the forefront. Her lavish production premiered at Santa Fe Opera and has also been seen at The Dallas Opera and also features the work of some of her favorite collaborators: set and costume designer Christopher Oram, lighting designer Marcus Doshi, and movement director Matthew Steffens. Douglas Boyd helms the Philharmonia Orchestra and musical forces! And the debuting Violetta is Sempre Artists roster-mate and Garsington favorite, Madison Leonard, in what promising to be a thrilling opening to the company’s 2026 season!
