there’s no place like state

Election results. Rummycube. Coffee ice cream. On repeat.

My plan for 2026 shows with Rita @ritashantidmt was to bring her into Olympia in “decent” stage shape but not burn her out for her Title defense at Ben Weider Naturals as that is the show I wanted her to be at her best ever. Showing up her best 7 weeks before would have hurt that peak. After 28 shows together factoring many things in this was my decision and approach.
I won’t lie…I second guessed myself all the way up through the prejudging at Olympia. I remember sitting next to Brandon @diamante.beckett asking him and his wife Nicole if they thought that was the right decision. They said “Coach she looks good, she looks like she belongs up there 100% it’s a great showing for her!” …but still as I sat there watching the Olympia prejudging I knew she was 7 weeks out from being her best.
We got to 10 weeks out Ben Weider and reality hit that we were only 3 weeks out from Olympia so I crash dieted her hard for 3 weeks. She came into Vegas in respectable condition thank goodness but I was afraid to carb her up much and she went on stage about 4 lbs lighter than she was last year. After Olympia I started giving her weekly refeeds and all her muscle she had built off season popped right back.
This morning Rita was 143 lbs fasted after a couple of low calorie days. This is over 10 lbs bigger than she was at Olympia and in much much better condition. Sitting now at 11 days out from the 2026 Ben Weider Rita is the biggest she has ever been for a Wellness show by a good margin and with good condition. Looking back now I am happy on my decision not to peak Rita too early this year.
We knew she wouldn’t have a chance at winning Olympia or even being first callout…so the focus for me was always on winning her 3rd Ben Weider Naturals Title. Even though I questioned myself I know looking at her now I made the right call.
Rita you look amazing today! I appreciate you always trusting the my plan and listening. You are as, if not more, focused than any athlete I have ever coached. You are incredible and you have my respect always 🫡
…as well as my love ❤️🙂 😉

Job opportunities shouldn’t depend on your zip code. My office hosted a job fair in South LA at the LA Black Worker Center to bring resources directly to nearly 100 Angelenos in the community.
